Connecting and letting loose for photos you can feel

Lifestyle photography is alllll about capturing your family’s story- your essence- what makes you, uniquely you.

Unlike posing in a studio, I will guide you into poses that make your inner authenticity SHINE

This way of artistry showcases not just your looks- but your hearts. Your giggle, the way your son scrunches his nose up when you get close, the way your daughter laughs out loud when you twirl her in circles. This way of doing it is real, its living and breathing and looking into each others eyes- real.

Knowing why engaging with each other (rather than the camera) is the secret to gorgeous, vibrant photos that FEEL like you is key to preparing for a session like this.

Why It’s Not About “Looking at the Camera”

Looking straight at the camera is what we’ve all been conditioned to do our whole lives. School pictures, blinding lights, perfect smile, forward eyes. Those pictures are always cute- ADORABLE even- but I want you to picture images across your wall that light up your home, images that bring to life the feelings you have for each other. Imagine photos that bring your walls together with the love and light that radiates through your genuine, real connection.

I will guide your family into interactions that feel natural. If you’re looking for pictures you can feel, look at the people you feel love for. (I know my camera’s cool but he’s all mine so look at your loves ones instead)

How to Prepare for a Relaxed and Connected Session

Here are some tips for getting in the right vibe beforehand:

1. Spend Quality Time Beforehand

Do something low stress that leads you into peaceful connection. A relaxed breakfast together, a nice walk, a calming playlist jam on the drive over- whatever gets you in your happy family mode.

2. Dress for Comfort and Confidence

Don’t grab the stale outfit you haven’t touched in years and nows not the time to force those tight pressed pants on your toddler- Pick a wardrobe that everybody feels like theselves in. It’s all about displaying your true personalities and telling put family’s story. Don’t let an uncomfortable outfit come between you and those gorgeous, emotive, vibrant photos you can FEEL.

3. Let the kids be

Kids are unchanged enough by society that they still have that bold, unbridled personality. They are going to be crazy, loud, restless and free. Let them. I don’t expect “perfect” kids showing up at my sessions- I’ve spent 10 years as a professional nanny and I will be dancing with them, playing with them and laughing with them during our session. The more you force them into being a certain way, the more forced and uncomfortable your images will feel.

Now trust the process, and trust me when I say the more you LEAN IN to their free, playful energy the more beautiful, connected and gorgeous your images will be.

Let some of their pixie dust rub off on you, join in their playful spirit and don’t be afraid to get goofy- i’ll get goofy right there with you!

Trust me when I say, Neverland isn’t far away when kids are free to be themselves, follow their star all the way to the end and your images will radiate your family’s true energy and spirit. You will leave not just history behind but a legacy in the art we create together.
